GPM Marine Constructions recently completed the rehabilitation of both sides of the existing dilapidated Berowra Ferry launch ramps. The previous ramps had seen significant cracking and surface erosion by the effort of water scour and long-term loading by traffic.
Under the watchful eye of the public, GPM Marine installed both pre-case and cast-in-situ concrete ramps over the existing launch ramps. New rip rap rock was place on the sides and toe of the boat ramp to mitigate the effects of boat scour on the new ramp.
In addition to the construction of the new slabs, improvements to the ramp access pavements on both the Bay Road and Berowra Waters Road were complete, as well as installation of new gates and guard rails. These improves will ensure safer ingress and egress for pedestrians and vehicles approach and using the Berowra Waters Ferry.
Throughout the duration of the works, GPM Marine cooperated with Transport NSW in ensuring minimal impact to the community, with the establishment of signage to redirect vehicular traffic and a water taxi provided for pedestrian access across Berowra Waters.
Works were successfully completed on time and within budget.
